1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to Stone River Ranch, LLC ("Stone River Ranch," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, services, facilities, and programs located in Virginia.

By accessing our website, booking services, or participating in any Stone River Ranch programs, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our services.

2. Eligibility

Stone River Ranch services are intended for adults aged 18 and older. By using our services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

3. Services Offered

Stone River Ranch provides equestrian and wellness services, including but not limited to:

  • Private, semi-private, and group riding lessons (English discipline)

  • Equestrian wellness classes (yoga, fitness, and mindfulness)

  • Horse care education and horsemanship training

  • Special events and clinics

All services are subject to availability and instructor discretion. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any service at any time without prior notice.

4. Account Registration and Booking

4.1 Account Creation

To book services, you may be required to create an account through our scheduling platform (Acuity Scheduling). You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information

  • Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials

  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

4.2 Required Assessment

All new riding students must complete a Private Assessment Lesson before purchasing lesson packages or participating in group lessons. This assessment ensures proper horse matching and appropriate class placement for your safety and learning experience.

4.3 Booking and Scheduling

  • Lesson bookings are confirmed upon payment

  • Schedule changes are subject to availability and our cancellation policy

  • We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel lessons due to weather, horse health, instructor availability, or facility conditions

5. Payment Terms

5.1 Pricing and Fees

  • All prices are listed in U.S. dollars

  • Prices are subject to change without notice, though existing bookings will honor the price at the time of purchase

  • Applicable taxes will be added to your total

5.2 Payment Processing

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe

  • Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged

  • Monthly retainer fees (if applicable) are billed automatically on the agreed-upon date

5.3 Lesson Packages

  • Lesson packages must be used within 6 months from date of purchase, unless otherwise stated

  • Packages are non-transferable unless explicitly approved by Stone River Ranch

  • Unused lessons in expired packages are forfeited without refund

5.4 Wellness Class Packages

  • Wellness class packages (10-class packages) expire after 6 months

  • Packages are for individual use only and cannot be shared

6. Cancellation and Refund Policy

6.1 Client Cancellations

  • 24-Hour Notice Required: Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled lesson or class

  • Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will result in forfeiture of that lesson or class

  • No-Shows: Failure to appear for a scheduled lesson without prior notice will result in forfeiture of that lesson or class

6.2 Stone River Ranch Cancellations

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule lessons due to:

  • Inclement weather or unsafe conditions

  • Horse illness or injury

  • Instructor unavailability

  • Facility emergencies

In the event we cancel a lesson, you will receive:

  • Full credit toward a rescheduled lesson, OR

  • Refund to your original payment method (at your request)

6.3 Refund Policy

  • Lesson Packages: Non-refundable once purchased, except in cases of medical emergency with physician documentation (subject to management approval)

  • Single Lessons: Refundable only if Stone River Ranch cancels the lesson

  • Assessment Lessons: Non-refundable once completed

  • Monthly Retainers: Non-refundable; 30-day written notice required for cancellation of ongoing services

7. Health, Safety, and Assumption of Risk

7.1 Physical Requirements

Horseback riding and equestrian activities are physically demanding. By participating, you acknowledge that you:

  • Are in adequate physical condition to participate

  • Do not have any medical conditions that would make participation unsafe

  • Will immediately inform instructors of any health concerns, injuries, or limitations

7.2 Required Documentation

All participants must complete and sign:

  • Liability waiver and release of claims

  • Emergency contact and medical information form

  • Assumption of risk acknowledgment

7.3 Safety Rules

You agree to:

  • Follow all instructor directions and facility safety rules

  • Wear appropriate footwear (closed-toe shoes with a heel) and clothing

  • Use provided or approved safety equipment (helmets are required for all riders)

  • Refrain from participating under the influence of alcohol or drugs

  • Not engage in reckless or dangerous behavior around horses

7.4 Right to Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse service or terminate a lesson at any time if:

  • A participant appears impaired or unsafe

  • Safety rules are violated

  • A participant behaves in a manner that endangers themselves, others, or horses

  • A participant is disrespectful or abusive to staff, other clients, or animals

No refunds will be issued for lessons terminated due to participant conduct.

8. Facility Rules and Conduct

8.1 Respectful Behavior

All clients and visitors are expected to:

  • Treat staff, instructors, other clients, and horses with respect and courtesy

  • Follow all posted facility rules and instructor guidance

  • Maintain a calm and quiet demeanor around horses

8.2 Photography and Media

  • Stone River Ranch may take photographs and videos during lessons, classes, and events for marketing and promotional purposes

  • By participating, you grant us permission to use your image in marketing materials unless you explicitly opt out in writing

  • Clients may take personal photos but must obtain permission before posting images of other clients, staff, or identifiable horses on social media

8.3 Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited on Stone River Ranch property:

  • Smoking or vaping anywhere on the premises

  • Alcohol or illegal drug use

  • Unauthorized access to restricted areas (barns, pastures, tack rooms)

  • Feeding horses without staff permission

  • Bringing unauthorized animals onto the property

Violation of these rules may result in immediate removal from the premises and termination of services without refund.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Ownership

All content on the Stone River Ranch website, including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, and software, is the property of Stone River Ranch, LLC or its content suppliers and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9.2 Limited License

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use our website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:

  • Reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content

  • Use our content for commercial purposes without written permission

  • Remove copyright or proprietary notices from any content

10. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website and services may contain links to third-party websites, services, or integrations (including Squarespace, Acuity Scheduling, Stripe, and Google Analytics). We are not responsible for:

  • The content, accuracy, or privacy practices of third-party sites

  • Any transactions or interactions you have with third parties

  • Technical issues or service interruptions caused by third-party providers

Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Limitation of Liability

11.1 Disclaimer of Warranties

Stone River Ranch services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that:

  • Our services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free

  • Results obtained from our services will be accurate or reliable

  • The quality of services will meet your expectations

11.2 Limitation of Damages

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stone River Ranch, LLC, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Personal injury or property damage (except as caused by our gross negligence)

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities

  • Loss of data or information

  • Emotional distress

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of our services shall not exceed the amount you paid to Stone River Ranch in the six (6) months preceding the claim.

11.3 Assumption of Risk

By participating in equestrian activities, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks, including but not limited to the risk of serious injury or death. Horses are unpredictable animals, and accidents can occur even with proper supervision and safety measures.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stone River Ranch, LLC, its owners, officers, employees, instructors, agents, and affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from:

  • Your use of our services or facilities

  • Your violation of these Terms

  • Your violation of any rights of another person or entity

  • Your negligent or wrongful conduct

13. Dispute Resolution

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

13.2 Jurisdiction and Venue

Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Loudoun County, Virginia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

13.3 Informal Resolution

Before filing any legal claim, you agree to first contact Stone River Ranch to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Please send written notice to:

We will attempt to resolve the dispute within 30 days of receiving your notice.

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Material changes may be communicated via email to registered users.

Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must discontinue use of our services.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any signed liability waivers, constitute the entire agreement between you and Stone River Ranch regarding your use of our services and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
